Map of suspects by parish
Ties of parish and neighboorhood must have played important roles in Protestantism’s diffusion along with occupational and family connections. Yet, identifying where people lived was an arduous and piecemeal process. My discovery of the List of Suspects at the National Library in Paris was a tremendous step forward in this respect.

Protestant services were outlawed in the city. Protestants were obliged to travel to estates of noble families in Coisy (Coisi) due north of Amiens, Allonville (NE of Amiens) and Picquigny, west along the Somme river.
